From its home in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts, New England Modern offers a collection of limited production dining and occasional tables, beds, and chairs. Here is uncompromising traditional workmanship in forms which draw on the past, yet have a lively, contemporary touch. The furniture features a wide range of detail, from relief-carved motifs drawn from nature and precise, dovetailed joinery to robust, sculptural shapes and green wood split, shaved, and made into chairs. The collection is built for comfort, delights the eye, and will live in harmony with a range of styles.

A lifelong working knowledge of the Northeastern forest and its lumber makes native woods like maple, cherry, oak, birch, tulip, and white pine our favorites. Harvesting close to home also facilitates our commitment to sustained-yield forestry. This instinct for wood is reflected in every piece.

New England Modern finishes further distinguish the line. Hand-worked surfaces as well as the grain and figure of wood are enhanced by milk-paint colors, blended and burnished to a warm glow, then finished with tung oil that penetrates the wood, adding depth, polish, and protection.

This is work for those who value the nature of the wood, the elements of joinery, and the freedom and directness of the classic made modern.
